What is a Seat Dampers

Gas Strut Australia’s seat dampers are suitable for damping shocks and vibrations.

Dampers are damping elements that convert the kinetic energy of moving parts into thermal energy and thereby reduce hard shocks. Dampers consist of a pressure tube, a piston rod with a special piston system and the damping medium oil.

How to Measure Your Seat Damper

Follow the simple and easy steps to measuring your seat damper.

  1. Extended Length

  3. Diameter of End Fitting
  4. Force you require

Step 1. Measure the Extended Length

Measure from the centre of the hole to the centre of the hole when fully extended.

Step 2. Measure the Diameter

Measure across the rod and across the canister.

  • Ours are 12/28 Diameter

Step 3. Measure the Diameter of the Hole

Measure across the widest part of the hole.

  • Our hole diameters are 10mm

Step 4. The Force

This is the toughest part...too much and you'll compress your spine, too little and you'll bottom out.

  • We recommend between 350N-550N
